Product Overview

The 2015 Allegrini Amarone della Valpolicella Classico, a true classic of the appellation, is a red wine that embraces tradition and region. Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Oseleta are left to air dry at least until December, at which point the grapes lose 40-45 percent of their original weight and are checked daily to ensure perfectly healthy grapes. Lengthy refining and aging finally yields a red wine that has become emblematic of Italian oenology, alongside Barolo and Brunello di Montalcino. It has imposing structure and depth, as much in its aromas of mature fruit and spices, as on the palate, where the alcohol is sustained by the right degree of acidity and refined tannins.

Varietal Composition: 45 Corvina Veronese, 45 Corvinone, 5 Rondinella, 5 Oseleta
Appellation: Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG
Aging: 18 months in oak, then blended together for 7 months

94 Points - Wine Enthusiast
"Exotic spice, mature black-skinned fruit, espresso and French oak are just some of the aromas you'll find on this delicious, full-bodied red. Boasting an enviable combination of concentrated flavors and elegance, it delivers flavors of ripe black cherry, prune steeped in spirits, vanilla bean and licorice framed by enveloping fine-grained tannins. Fresh acidity lifts the rich flavors while a coffee note lingers on the finish. Drink through 2026." KO, 3/1/19

93 Points - Wine Spectator
"A fresh, creamy, medium- to full-bodied red, with fine, supple tannins layered with flavors of crushed black raspberry, fig cake and spiced orange, offering a subtle, savory underpinning of smoky mineral and tobacco that lingers on the finish. Long and elegant. Drink now through 2029. 4,100 cases imported." -AN, 2/28/19
