Product Description

The 2014 Woodward Canyon Old Vines Cabernet Sauvignon expresses the purity and typicity of fully mature Cabernet Sauvignon, offering aromas of cedar, baking spice, graphite, and cassis. Flavors of black fruits blend beautifully with the exotic spice of new oak. The texture is silky yet firm with integrated tannins offering a rich, lingering finish. With proper storage, this wine should easily age for ten years or more.

Varietal Composition: 96 Cabernet Sauvignon, 4 Petit Verdot
Appellation: Columbia Valley AVA, Washington
Aging: French oak barrels

94 Points, #86 on Top 100 Cellar Selections of 2017 - Wine Enthusiast
"One of the state's best bottles year after year, this delivers herb, blackberry, woodspice and vanilla bean aromas. The palate is tightly wound and impeccably balanced, with a mixture of fruit and barrel flavors that show depth. Made with the future in mind, it will be best from 2025–2032." -SS, 11/1/17

94 Points - Wine Advocate
"The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Old Vines is a deep, rich and beautifully textured effort that gives up tons of chocolate, dark fruit, licorice, roasted herbs and hints of spice. It's a ripe, broad, textured and concentrated effort that has tons to love. It's my favorite in this stacked lineup. The blend here is 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot, and it's going to have 2-3 decades of life." -JD, 6/30/17

92 Points - Vinous
"(14.6% alcohol; two-thirds of this wine is from fruit from Sagemoor Block 3, planted in 1972, with the rest of the Cabernet coming from Champoux and Sagemoor and the Petit Verdot from the estate vineyard behind the winery): Saturated bright ruby. Very rich, inviting aromas of blueberry liqueur and dark chocolate lifted by a violet topnote. Plush dark berry and spice flavors convey a lovely chocolatey sweetness, with the terrific old-vines concentration giving the wine a layered mouth feel. Finishes with substantial velvety, tooth-dusting tannins and slowly building, chocolatey length, with notes of cassis and graphite minerality arriving late. Other than the Petit Verdot, which was planted in 2001, there are no vines in this wine that were planted later than 1982. Mott finds this wine approachable already but says it should be at its best in another five or six years, after it loses some of its baby fat." -ST, Oct/2017
