Product Description

The 2015 Delas Domaine des Grands Chemins Crozes Hermitage offers seductive whiffs of dark cherry, blackberry, and black currants which evolve in the glass to reveal slightly smoky and liquorice notes. On the palate, this Syrah shows tremendous varietal and regional typicity, with dark fruits and smoky meat flavors. The texture is tannic but intense and generous with great potential for laying down.

Varietal Composition: 100 percent Syrah
Appellation: Crozes-Hermitage AOC
Aging: 14 months, partly in tank, partly in small French oak barrels (second & third use)

93 Points - Wine Spectator
"Focused, with a tight beam of raspberry coulis and warm plum compote flavors, flecked with savory and white pepper hints. A chalky spine harnesses everything on the finish. Very solid. Best from 2018 through 2023. 100 cases imported." -JM, 10/31/17

93 Points, "Cellar Selection" - Wine Enthusiast
"Savory tones of forest floor and dried herb accent ripe but restrained black-plum and cherry flavors in this full-bodied Syrah. It's a concentrated, muscular wine with brisk acidity and firm, upright tannins. Quite taut now it should meld elegantly by 2020 and continue to improve through 2030." -ALI, 9/1/18

(91-93) Points - Vinous
"Dark ruby. Complex aromas of red and dark berry liqueur, licorice and pungent flowers are enlivened by a spicy topnote. Shows excellent clarity and powerful thrust to the juicy, nicely concentrated blackberry and violet pastille flavors, and a peppery nuance adds spicy back-end cut. Closes sappy, energetic and very long, with fine-grained tannins sneaking in late." -JR, Apr/2017

91 Points - Wine Advocate
"The 2015 Crozes Hermitage Domaine des Grands Chemins represents a middle tier in Delas' Crozes hierarchy (Les Launes is the least expensive, aged exclusively in tank; Le Clos is the most expensive, aged exclusively in barrel). This wine is perhaps the most charming of the three, revealing attractive notes of dried herbs and spices on the nose, along with red berries and black cherries. It's medium-bodied and savory, marked by flavors of black olives and espresso, then it lightens again on the richly textured finish. Drink it over the next decade or so." -JC, 12/29/17
