Product Description

Since its establishment in 1971, the Hickinbotham Vineyard in the ridgetops above the village of Clarendon has become a part of Australia's wine heritage, supplying fruit to produce many of Australia's greatest wine, including Penfolds Grange, Hardy's Eileen Hardy, and various Clarendon Hills bottlings. The Jackson Family purchased the vineyard in 2012, and now winemakers Charlie Seppelt (Hardy's) and Chris Carpenter (Cardinale, Lokoya, La Jota, Mt. Brave) have commenced a new era of Hickinbotham's prestigious legacy. The 2014 Hickinbotham Trueman Cabernet Sauvignon is a bright, energetic, brilliantly active and entertaining wine. Lithe and elegant, but complex and deeply flavorful with black fruit, savory herbs, eucalyptus, and delicate florals.

Varietal Composition: 100 percent Cabernet Sauvignon
Appellation: McLaren Vale, South Australia
Aging: 15 months in Bordeaux-cooperated barrels

94 Points - Wine Spectator
"Polished and expressive, with a hint of caramel and brown sugar to smooth out the dense black cherry and plum flavors. Dark chocolate, spice and toasted tobacco notes are aromatic and generous on the long finish. Drink now through 2028. 2,385 cases made." -MW, 6/30/17

90 Points - Wine Advocate
"Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2014 Trueman Cabernet Sauvignon has cassis and dried mint on the nose, with chocolate, violets, creme de cassis and blackberry tart flavors. Full-bodied and opulently fruited, this is nonetheless a very fresh Cabernet, possessing nice grainy tannins and great length." -LP, 7/17/17
