winemaker's notes: This crisp, elegant wine captures the unique personality of grapes grown in Napa Valleys celebrated Stags Leap District. Made entirely from grapes grown in our own vineyards, our 1998 Stags Leap District Sauvignon Blanc displays vibrant layers of citrus, melon and apricot. Intriguing nuances of spices, lemongrass and flint add complexity to the pure fruit expression. Sur lie (on the yeast) aging gives the wine broadness on the palate, while the grapes natural acidity offers a clean, refreshing finish. This wine is a beautiful accompaniment to food and is very complementary to a wide range of flavors. Our favorite pairings include grilled prawns with jicama avocado salsa or spicy calamari. With bottle aging, the wine will increase in complexity for at least five years, if properly stored at a constant 55°-60°F.
